BETLA NATIONAL PARK

Area : 226.33 sq. km.

Betla National Park 226.32sq.km. (vide notification no.- वन्य प्राणी 46-95-ई0/व0प0 पटना दिनांक 22.01.1996). The Critical Tiger Habitat area of 414.08 sq.km has been carved out of Palamau Wildlife Sanctuary and Betla National Park vide notification no- वन्य प्राणी-23/07-6589 दिनांक-21.12.07 and that of Buffer Area (715.85sq.km)  vide notification no.- वन्य प्राणी – 08/2012-2911 दिनांक- 14.07.2012 

Important Mammals & Birds : Permanent residents include Sloth Bear, Panther, Wild Bear, Wolf, Jackal, Hyena, Gaur, Chital, Langurs are commonly seen. Other animals to be found are Mouse Dear, Sambhar, Four-Homed Antelopes, Nilgai, Kakar, small Indian Civets, ant eating Pangolin, Porcupine and Mongoose. The park’s rich Birdlife features the Hornbill, Peafowl, Red Jungle Fowl, black Partridge, White-necked Stork, black ibis, swamp grey, Quail, the Pied Hornbill, Wagtails, the Harial, Doves, Drongo, the Crested Serpent Eagle,forest owlets, the Papeeha and other birds usually found in dry deciduous forests.

The Betla Park remains closed from 1st July to 30 September for tourists. The best time to visit the park is from October to January.
